The Voice Nigeria is the Nigerian version of the TV series The Voice. It premiered on Africa Magic television channels Showcase and Urban on DStv in Nigeria on 10 April 2016 and was sponsored by Airtel and Coca-Cola. The winner would earn a recording contract with Universal Music Group, an SUV car worth N7 million and a trip to Abu Dhabi.

Format
The Blind Auditions
The show starts with the Blind auditions. In this stage the coaches, all noteworthy performing artists, have their chairs faced away from the stage as the contestant sings. The coaches have the duration of the contestant's performance(90 seconds) to decide whether they want the contestant on their team and turn. If one coach turns, the contestant defaults to that coach but if more than one coach turns, the contestant has to choose who he/she wants to work with. In the end of the blind auditions, each coach will have twelve "Talents" on their teams.
The Battle Rounds
The next stage is the battle rounds. In this stage, the coaches pair their talents in twos and give each pair a song to perform. After the performance the coach chooses one to advance while the other goes home, or is stolen by another coach. Each coach has two steals. The coaches advance with eight talents each at the end of the battle rounds.
The Live Shows
After the battle rounds comes the Live Shows. In this stage, each of the talents perform a song given by their coach, and the coach saves one out of every four talents while the rest are left to public votes. Public votes save one talent out of each team every week while the rest are evicted. The talents are cut from 32 to 16 to 12 to 8 of them who qualify for the finals. From the Top 8, the winner and runner up are decided by the public votes.

The opening broadcast was on 10 April 2016. The four coaches for the inaugural season are Nigerian artistes Waje, Timi Dakolo, Patoranking and 2baba aka Tuface (formerly known as 2face Idibia). The programme is hosted by IK Osakioduwa and Stephanie Coker.

Judges
In the second season, three of the four judges were kept, Timi Dakolo, Waje and Patoranking. But Yemi Alade replaced first season judge 2baba (Tuface or 2face).

Top 4 and Winner
At the live season finale for Season 2, the Top 4 of the competition were announced as follows:

- WOW - Team Waje - fourth
Idyl (artistic name of Daniel Diongoli) was announced to be the winner of the season. The self-acclaimed ghetto youth says he was "raised in the streets by the streets". The co-presenter, IK Osakioduwa, then said that over 10 million Nigerians nationwide had voted for the second edition of The Voice Nigeria.
