The Great Northern Candy Drop (aka just Candy Drop) is a 2017 Canadian holiday special which aired on CBC Kids on 20 December 2017. Its development had been announced earlier in June. It takes place in Kuujjuag in Quebec. The special was written by Kris Pearn, the director of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2.
Is is produced by the Ottawa-based Amberwood Entertainment, who had earlier done the Magic Hockey Skates special.

Background
It based on the novel The Kuujjuaq Christmas Candy Drop released in 2015. It was published by the Canada Aviation and Space Museum.
This in turn was based on the National Film Board of Canada documentary The Wings of Johnny May, released in 2013.
